Cloisonné Poison Dart Frog: A Vibrant Journey of Discovery

Cloisonné Poison Dart Frog: A Vibrant Journey of Discovery

As an artist, I am constantly inspired by the natural world around me. Recently, I have been captivated by the striking beauty of the poison dart frog, a species that has long fascinated scientists and nature enthusiasts alike. This strikingly colorful creature has sparked a series of studies on frogs, and I am in the process of creating cloisonné samples to finalize the color scheme for this forthcoming exquisite assortment of tropical frogs.

These samples are done on copper with silver foil overlay. The finished piece will be completed on a fine silver base with gold wire. I am enjoying this journey of discovery, as I explore the intricate details and vibrant hues of the poison dart frog. The process of creating cloisonné enamel is both challenging and rewarding, as I strive to capture the essence of this remarkable amphibian.

The finished piece will be a pendant / brooch combo, allowing the wearer to showcase the beauty of the poison dart frog in a unique and wearable form. As I work on this project, I am constantly amazed by the complexity and diversity of the natural world, and I am excited to share my interpretation of this captivating creature with others.

At this moment, I am liking the opalescent background as it really sets off the red / orange of the frog's body. I have placed gold foil in the circular dots on the frog and I like it left clear instead of filling those cells with black. This will be an artistic liberty that I will be taking on this piece as it believe it shows much more dimension in the piece.

As I continue to refine the design and color scheme, I am eager to see how the final piece will turn out. The process of creating cloisonné enamel is both time-consuming and meticulous, but the end result is always worth the effort. I am excited to share this journey with my customers and fellow nature enthusiasts, and I can't wait to see where this project takes me next.

Let's just see where this journey takes us....
