Cloisonné Poison Dart Frog

This strikingly colorful creature has sparked a series of studies on frogs. I am in the process of creating cloisonne samples to finalize the color scheme for this forthcoming exquisite assortment of tropical frogs.

These samples are done on copper with silver foil overlay. The finished piece will be completed on a fine silver base with gold wire. I am enjoying this journey of discovery.

The finished piece will be a pendant / brooch combo.

At this moment, I am liking the opalescent background as it really sets off the red / orange of the frog's body. I have placed gold foil in the circular dots on the frog and I like it left clear instead of filling those cells with black. This will be an artistic liberty that I will be taking on this piece as it believe it shows much more dimension in the piece.
